The adjudication regime administered by SMC is governed by the prevailing Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2004, its Regulations and the SMC Adjudication Rules.

The administration of adjudication application proceedings is governed by the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2004 and its Regulations.
A speedy process
The Act is designed to provide a quick and low-cost resolution of payment disputes over construction-related work done, or goods and services supplied, through an adjudicatory process.
How to lodge
Prepare and submit your application
Parties should consider obtaining legal advice before filing an Adjudication Application.
Complete the prescribed form
Complete the applicable prescribed form and ensure that the application complies with the prevailing Act and Regulations.
Choose a lodgement method
- By hand: submit two signed copies of the Adjudication Application Form, two sets of accompanying documents and payment at SMC’s operating address.
- By email: send the application to smc_sop@sal.org.sg under the prevailing Supplementary Rules for Electronic Adjudication Lodgement.

SMC does not accept lodgement by fax or post. Applications must be made during SMC’s opening hours shown below.

Payment methods
A claimant may make payment by either:
- A cheque from a law firm or a cashier’s order where the deposit is more than S$5,000, made payable to “Singapore Mediation Centre”, when submitting the application by hand.
- Telegraphic transfer to SMC using the details set out in the Supplementary Rules for Electronic Lodgement.
